Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then found multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be resolved quickly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
